IMPORTANT REQUEST FOR PRAYER

Hi everyone,

My name is Jude Daniel, and I am the outgoing CU Chair. I would like to inform you all of the situation at LSE regarding the whole issue about Exeter/Birmingham CUs, and ask for your prayers, especially for our upcoming Mission Week (29 Jan - 2 Feb).

This week, there is a proposal in the UGM by the Secular Humanist Society urging the SU to stand by Exeter SU. They feel that the demands made by Exeter and some of the other CUs (that members should sign a statement of faith, and committee should sign a Doctrinal Basis) are ludicrous. At the moment, the Lord has 'given us favour in their eyes', and they aren't openly antagonistic towards us. They have asked us for a statement, and our response has been that we would like to stay neutral until we know the whole story, although we would not like to stand by the SU against another CU.

I would appreciate your prayer support, especially as we head towards our Mission Week. Please pray that;
1) God gives us the moral strength to answer their questions with truth.
2) He provides us with love of Jesus, that our words may not be harsh, but kind.
3) This commotion would result in positive publicity, that would help when it comes to Mission Week.

Also pray much that the practicalities of Mission Week would be sorted out in time. There are a lot of problems with various things at the moment, but it has been truly amazing to see how the Lord has been provider. A week ago, the situation looked dire. We could only get five tiny rooms (all in different buildings) booked for our meetings each day, and those were all in highly inaccessible place. We now have a large room for three of the five days provided for from completely unexpected directions (the AU, the Chaplaincy and the SU), and it looks like the other two may work out too. So the meetings may all be in the same venue after all. One of the amazing thing about it all is that the building we are going to be using has only been opened for use to LSE this term, God's provision when we needed it the most. There are still a number of things that need to be dealt with, so your prayer support would be of great value to us.

I am sure that some of you will have further questions for me. Please feel free to email me at j.w.daniel@lse.ac.uk.

Many thanks

Jude
